Coherent Interaction of Multiple Diffracted X-Rays in Crystals
Dedicated to Prof. Dr. G. Hildebrandt at his 60th birthday Coherent dynamical interaction in a 6-beam Borrmann diffraction experiment leading to an unusual intensity enhancement of X-ray transmission in crystals is investigated by using a synchrotron radiation source. A sharp enhanced intensity spot of two seconds of arc beamdivergence is observe 1 on the direct beam at the exact 6-beam diffrac...
متن کاملUltrasound-Induced Gradient Crystals Observed by High-Energy X-rays
High-energy X-ray scattering (90 keV) has been performed at the high-energy beamline ID15 at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility, Grenoble, on perfect Si crystals excited by compressional ultrasound waves in the [111] direction. Two-dimensional intensity maps of the 351 Bragg peak reveal a purely longitudinal distortion of the lattice with respect to the applied distortion field, which ...
متن کاملTriboluminescence and X-Rays
Triboluminescence is shown to produce X-rays from the nanoparticles (NPs) that form as the sticky acrylic adhesive of Scotch tape is peeled from the polyethylene (PE) roll in a vacuum. Prior to peeling, atoms in the adhesive are not under electromagnetic (EM) confinement and have full thermal kT energy. But upon peeling, the atoms in NPs that form in the gap between adhesive and PE are under EM...

We present results from the analysis of deep ROSAT HRI and PSPC observations of the spiral galaxy M81. The inferred total (0.5–2 keV band) luminosity of M81 is ∼ 3×10 ergs s, excluding the contribution from identified interlopers found within the D25 ellipse. The nucleus of the galaxy alone accounts for about 65% of this luminosity. The rest is due to 26 other X-ray sources (contributing ∼ 10%)...
متن کاملRadicals Produced in Single Crystals of Thymine Derivatives by UV and X-Rays
Single crystals o f anhydrous thymine (T), thymine monohydrate (T ■ H 20 ) , 5,6-dihydrothymine (TH 2), 1-methylthymine (mT) and thymidine (dT) were irradiated with X-rays and UV between 77 K and 300 K. Six types o f radicals were analyzed by ESR-spectroscopy at 9.5 GHz and 35 GHz after exposure to X-rays. The anion radical occurred only in T • H 20 at 77 K, the 4-yl radical only in TH 2 at 77 ...
